1) SABRA CAFE:

Kosher Australia is proud to announce that from Sunday March 16 2008, Sabra Israeli Cafe at 180 Carlisle St, St Kilda (next to Port Philip Library) will be open under the Mehadrin supervision of Kosher Australia. Cuisine is Middle Eastern (fleishig) and the restaurant is open Sunday thru Thursday 11:30am – midnight, Friday 11am-3pm. Dine in or take away. Contact Yuval on 9537 1588.

2) VITASOY:

The following Vitasoy soy milks are now kosher certified Mehadrin and pareve effective immediately:

Warning: Heart and Lush Chocolate varieties are not acceptable

Kosher certified Mehadrin products are recommended where available.

3) THE VEGGIE CHIP COMPANY:

The following products, when carrying the Kosher Australia symbol are Kosher certified Mehadrin and pareve:

4) DEEP SPRING:

All varieties of Deep Spring flavoured mineral water are now Kosher and Pareve.

5) TWININGS:

In response to numerous queries re which Twinings Teas, we have found the following based on whether or not flavours are listed in the ingredients:

§ Acceptable varieties containing no flavours: Pure Green Tea; Pure Peppermint; Pure Camomile; Ceylon Orange Pekoe; Prince of Wales; Irish Breakfast; Camomile & Spearmint; Darjeeling; Lapsang Souchong; Everyday Tea

§ Non Acceptable varieties containing flavours: Green Tea & Mint; Lady Grey; Earl Grey; Earl Grey Green Tea; Camomile Honey & Lemon; Chai; Blackcurrant & Apple; Green Tea & Mint; Green Tea & Lemon; Strawberry And Mango; Blackcurrant, Ginseng And Vanilla; Raspberry And Echinacea; Lemon And Ginger; Blackcurrant, Vanilla, Four Red Fruits; Peach

Despite certain Kosher retailers claiming ‘exclusive’ information from the London Beth Din on this issue, the LBD has advised us that they do NOT know whether products exported to Australia are the same products that the London Beth Din checks. Also note that some Twinings teas are now manufactured in New Zealand.

6) LOWAN:

The Kashrut Authority of NSW advises that all Lowan Cereals are no longer approved by the Kashrut Authority. Existing stocks may be used.

7) KELLOGS:

The Kashrut Authority of NSW advises that:

§ Coco Pops with use-by date after December 2008 and without milk solids or whey on the ingredients panel are pareve – the product has been reformulated

§ Coco Pops - Coco Rocks are Kosher pareve

§ Coco Pops - Chex are Kosher pareve

§ Nutrigrain is now Kosher pareve – the product has been reformulated

§ All Bran Wheat Flakes Honey Almond are Kosher pareve
