RCV President Rabbi Meir Shlomo Kluwgant noted that the holding of the annual joint meeting by the Rabbinic and Lay leadership was indicative of the ongoing genuine intention by both the parties to foster and maintain a closer working relationship between the two parties.
Items discussed discussed at the meeting by the RCV and the COSV included the formation of a Beth Din for the resolution of Civil and Commercial Disputes, the possible extension of the Melbourne Eruv to include areas north of Dandenong Road and other matters of general interest and concern to the Orthodox Community.
The meeting resolved to address the need for a greater awareness of the operation of the Beth Din and of the Melbourne Eruv and how dependent these important institutions are on the support of the wider Orthodox Community.
COSV President Mr Moshe Trebish renewed the commitment of the COSV to work closely with the Rabbinate for the benefit of the whole of the Jewish Community particularly in the areas of education and outreach.
