JEMP (Jewish Emergency Management Plan) is run by the Victorian (and, recently, also the NSW) Jewish community in the event of a major crisis affecting the Jewish community. JEMP was launched by the Minister for Police and Emergency Services in 2001. As part of JEMP response, JEMP opens up its Information Line (1800 181 816) to the public to call in to get timely, accurate information about the current crisis.
JEMP is seeking to train more volunteers to handle incoming calls to this Information Line.
A full-day training day has been organised for interested persons to take place commencing 9:15am on Sunday August 26.
Volunteers will be trained in community affairs, handling emergency calls, use of JEMP forms, the National Registration and Inquiry Service (run by Red Cross), handling stress and concluding in a sample scenario.
