Local govt elections to take place Shabbat 26 Nov

Local Government Council Elections being Held on Shabbat 26 Nov, 08 – Vote Before this Date or you will be Fined

Members are reminded that the Local Council elections are being held on Saturday 29 Nov, 08.

Voting is compulsory for all enrolled residents under 70 years of age. This includes property owners and tenants. If you fail to vote you will be fined.

Everyone who is registered to Vote in State and Federal Elections is also required to vote in these local Council elections as well.

For most Councils voting will be done by postal vote where the Victoria Electoral Commission will post ballot papers to you. This will commence on the 11th November.

However if you live (or are a property owner) within the Cities of:

  • Port Phillip
  • Glen Eira
  • Yarra
  • Banyule
  • Brimbank
  • Greater Dandenong
  • Hobsons Bay
  • Knox City and
  • Moreland

you need to either complete a Postal Voting Form and return it as soon as possible ( before the 29 November) or visit a Voting Centre and vote at these Centres.
