Eruv Announcement Parshat Tezaveh

י"ב אדר ה' אלפים תש"ע

The Community is advised that the Eruv has been inspected and found to be kosher.
Accordingly it can be relied upon for this Shabbat Parshat Tezaveh.

This Eruv Status Announcement is issued by the Administrator of the Eruv Dr Peter Kloot this Friday 26th February, 2010 at 8:30 am Melbourne time on behalf of the Council of Orthodox Synagogues of Victoria (COSV).

By Rav Hamachshir, Rabbi Y Sprung

To safeguard the sanctity of this Shabbos, Eruv Purim and focus one's attention on its observance, the Rabbis prohibited hachana, i.e. doing anything in preparation for the week or Shabbos to follow (Orach Chaim Siman 333 se'if 6).

Therefore, though a Megilla is not considered muktzah and may be moved or read from on any Shabbos excluding the 14th of Adar, it may not be brought to shule this coming Shabbos in preparation for its reading on Saturday night (Aruch HaShulchan, Kitzzur Shulchan Aruch Orach Chaim Siman 693).

Shabbat Shalom & Purim Sameach

Rav Yaakov Sprung
