New Statement by Rabbinical Council

ח' אב ה' אלפים תש"ע

In response to queries received by the Rabbinical Council of Victoria (RCV) in relation to its recent statement regarding the private Kashrus business known as Kosher VeYosher (otherwise known as "It's Kosher"), the RCV states as follows:

"The RCV has never requested from any local or international Kashrus authority to directly comment on or about any other Kashrus authority or business, nor has it claimed to. This practice opposes the standing policy of all reputable Kashrus agencies.
In consultation with senior officials from three International Kashrus agencies, and without any reference to or naming of any particular rabbi or organisation, a detailed list of Halachic rulings and practices was submitted, requesting responses as to whether or not these rulings and practices met the accepted standards of those agencies. In each case, the agencies confirmed that such practices would not meet their standards. Based on these findings, and following careful consideration, the RCV issued its statement.
These findings were made available to member rabbis of the RCV prior to the issuing its statement, and once again, the RCV urges Kosher consumers and members of the public to discuss any concerns they may have with their congregational rabbi."

COSV chat

I can't believe how the COSV is allowing itself to be used as the mouthpiece of the RCV in their non-stop hounding of Rabbi Rabi. They have made repeated disparaging and damaging (and even dishonest)statements against him without the minimal decency of calling him to a meeting and discussing the issues. The vast majority of these rabbis in the RCV know nothing about Kashrut and have far less Torah knowledge that Rabbi Rabi. Instead of concentrating on improving teh standards of their mechalel shabbat members and the total lack of taharat hamishpacha and kashrut in their shuls, they spend their time at meetings assailing a good and decent person. I am utterly disgusted by their behaviour and they should be thoroughly ashamed of themselves.

Has Kosher VeYosher been offered the opportunity to respond on this site? Or to the RCV? Or is that measure of natural justice denied from KVY?

In response of the "new statement by RCA", my question is: Why doesn't the RCA investigate the practices of other Kashrus authorities, such as ADASS ISRAEL KASHRUS in Melbourne. Maybe they will find that their practices are also "notin accordance with what the RCA has been advised? Why doesn't the RCA come out with the information in the open, so that the consumers know what is right and what is wrong? Why is it a secret? And what does the RCA has to do with Kashrus all of a sudden? Are all the Rabbis of the RCA involved in Kashrus matters? LEAVE IT TO THE EXPERTS, AND LET GO OF MACHLOKES. Abe Muchnik
