ל' תשרי ה' אלפים תשע"ב
Since November 2010, two year old Ezra has been searching for his perfect DNA match to save his life.
Diagnosed with a rare immunue deficiency disease, he will die unless he receives a stem cell or a bone marrow transfusion. A match has not been found within his own family or worldwide.
Ayelet is a two year old gorgeous girl, diagnosed with Leukaemia and similarly will not live long unless an unrelated stem cell match can be found for her.
HOW CAN YOU HELP?
As we are writng this plea for help there are 4 children on deathbeds ! The likelihood finding a match for them is within the Jewish community, however, Jews are under represented on the stem cell registries . A two teaspoon blood sample is all that it takes to enroll, you need to be healthy, 18-45 years old and willing to save a life.
· Leukaemia can be cured with stem cell / bone marrow transfusions. · Only 1 in 3 find a match within their family.
· 68% need to look for an unrelated match on the worldwide registry.
· As DNA is inherited the likelihood of finding a match is highest within one's own ethnic community, even so, it is only 1 in 10 000 !
· Testing comprises of a simple 2 teaspoon blood test & completing the Red Cross /ABMDR questionnaires.
You need to be healthy and 18-45 years old.
You are invited to help save a life On Tuesday 8 November at SPIRITGROW Centre 3.30-7.30pm as below Call Shula or Yehuda or info@giftoflifeaustralia for information and an appointment.
